Week 3: Personality Disorder

Hey Mom and Dad,
It's me Andrew. I just wanted to write back to you about my first semester at college. I have to keep this letter kind of short, because I do not want anyone else to know that I am writing this letter. It would be so embarassing if my roommate saw me... So far I haven't found any clubs or groups to participate in because they probably wouldn't like me anyway. There's this cute girl in my Psychology class, but I'm kind of scared to do anything. One time I gave her a sheet of paper, but I'm sure that she doesn't know I exist. I have the highest grade average in the class, but all the other students are probably better than me even if they have lower grades. I just hope I don't embarass myself more than 50 times this year...
Your underachieving son,
Andrew

I would say the author is suffering from Avoidant Personality Disorder considering the "feelings of inadequacy" and inferiority to his peers. The fear of embarassment is also another cue that this is the Avoidant Personality Disorder.

poor you...you're going through Avoidant Personality Disorder. You think people think you don't exist, you have low self-esteem, and you're often embarrassed.

um.. it sounds like you have what's called the Avoidant Personality Disorder. you feel embarrassed at times and thinks that others are better than you.

grow a pair and get over your avoidant personality disorder. your afraid to give yourself the credit that you obviously deserve and accept that people may actually like you.

Because you feel inadequate and assume others are have higher standing than you, you suffer from Avoidant Personality Disorder. That girl in Psych probably likes you a lot, but unless you get over your disorder you won't ever see any action there, man.

Sounds like Avoidant Personality Disorder. The thing that gives it away is the extreme lack of high self-esteem.

I think you have avoidant personality disorder. You did a good job at presenting this because you make it clear that the person feels like he's less than others and he feels like he's not good enough. You showed the low self-esteem very well. I think that therapy might help to boost his level of self-esteem.

Like everyone already said, this disorder is probalby the Avoidant Personality Disorder. This guy's always scared of being embarassed, and he feels like he's nothing compared to the people around him.
